- 8:30 a.m. - 9:45 a.m.: Lake Kathering Nature Preseve - Palos Heights
Grandparents and grandchildren alike will love the four-tiered man made waterfall and be awed in the butterfly garden at the 158-acre Lake Katherine Nature Preserve. This nature preserve also includes a 20-acre lake, wetland restoration project, forested areas and prairies along the Calumet-Sag Canal. *Educational programs can be arranged for all age groups. Approximate drive time: 15 minutes - 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.: Oak Lawn Children's Museum - Oak Lawn
Keep the grandchildren busy at the nine interactive exhibits, including a puppet theatre, market, water table and periscopes. Children can make their own kite and watch it fly around the museum. *This museum is geared for children ages 2 - 10. Approximate drive time: 10 minutes - 11:40 p.m. - 2:15 p.m.: Mattson's Steak House - Burbank
Sure to please the young and old alike, Mattson's Steak House offers two all-you-can-eat salad bars, all-you-can-eat soup bars and all-you-can-eat ice-cream sundae bars. Approximate drive time: 15 minutes - 1:15 p.m. - 2:15 p.m.: Bronzeville Children's Museum - Evergreen Park
Experience the first and only African-American children's museum in the country. Their mission is to expose all children to the contributions, culture, and heritage of African Americans through activities, changing interactive exhibits and programs. *This museum is geared for children ages 3 - 9. Approximate drive time: 25 minutes - 2:45 p.m. - 6:45 p.m.: Forest View Farms - Tinley Park
After visiting the petting zoo, the children and grandparents alike will enjoy a hay or carriage ride through the woods. Pony and trail rides also available. To feed that hungry group, why not have an old-fashioned, down-home cookout on the farm? - 7:15 p.m.: Relaxation Time
Enjoy an evening relaxing at the hotel pool or take the kids to one of the many Entertainment Centers and enjoy a night of miniature golf, games, bumper boats or cars, rides and much more.
For the baseball fans in the group, the Chicago Southland's minor league baseball team, The Windy City Thunderbolts, is a great way to spend the evening. For major league soccer fans, The Chicago Fire's new stadium, TOYOTA PARK, is fully operational. Come out and enjoy the excitement!
