2024 is an enormously special year for a variety of Chicago Southland communities, which will be celebrating milestone anniversaries. While each of these wonderful communities will have special celebrations, final details are still pending.

Happy 75th anniversary to the Village of Park Forest, home to Freedom Hall, a popular Chicago Southland performing arts center, and the award-winning Vintrendi Wine Company on Main Street in the heart of the downtown area. Happy centennial anniversary to the village of Flossmoor and the village of Forest View!

Flossmoor’s quaint downtown shopping area offers boutiques, gift shops and antique stores where you’ll likely find that hidden treasure you didn’t know you needed! Also in the heart of downtown Flossmoor is the Flossmoor Station Restaurant & Brewery, one of Illinois’ oldest craft brewers. Home to the Chicago Portage National Historic Site, one of only two nationalg historic sites in Illinois is in Forest View. Part of the Forest Preserves of Cook County, this site marks the western end of the historic portage linking the Great Lakes to the Mississippi River. Last but certainly not least is the sesquicentennial of the village of Monee.

Monee is an outdoorsman’s paradise. Visitors flock to Monee Reservoir to not only fish, but also to kayak and simply be one with nature. Crozehead Cooperage and Whiskey Experience is one of only 26 cooperages in the country and the only one in Illinois, while The Wildflower Farm is a locally owned boutique flower farm open to the public in September and October where you can pick your own fresh flowers.
