A Tasty Treat of the Arts
Day 1
Enjoy Breakfast at Harvest Room in Palos Heights. The group will be impressed with Harvest Room’s refreshing “healthy and innovative” breakfast and demonstration. The concept is simple: from the farm to your table. Harvest Room restaurant staff is a small team with a big idea. They specialize in familiar dishes made fresh with local or organically raised ingredients purchased from area farmers when possible. Harvest Room only serves antibiotic/hormone free, pasture raised meats, cage free eggs, homemade sausages, hand crafted teas, non genetically modified organism (GMO) canola oil, and organic extra virgin olive oil (EVOO). Your group will taste the goodness of Harvest Room, in their very own private room! Enjoy!
After breakfast stop at Lotton Art Glass Gallery in Crete. The studios of Charles Lotton, began in 1970 with prayers and dreams when Charles began in his backyard, teaching himself the art of glassblowing. Today you can find Charles experimenting with some of the most breathtaking colors in the world. Watch the unique process as Charles, or one of his team, works on a piece of art starting with sand. In fact, Lotton Art Glass is one of the very few studios in the world to start with sand. Today Charles' works grace hundreds of museum collections.
Enjoy lunch and a demonstration with Chuck at Chuck's Southern Comforts Cafe in Burbank. Chuck Pine spent two and a half years at Topolobampo under the tutelage of Rick Bayless before striking out on his own, opening a small barbecue shack in south-suburban Burbank. You will treat yourself to some of the best eats in Chicago! If you haven’t been to Chuck’s Southern Comforts Cafe, you’re missing out on one of Chicago’s most inspired blend of Mexican, Cajun-Creole, good old southern cookin’ and the BEST s…l…o…w cooked smoked BBQ you’ve ever had!
After lunch the group will experience Wild Blossom Meadery & Winery. With more than 30 years of winemaking experience, Wild Blossom Meadery & Winery is the first winery in Chicago and the only producer of mead on the Northern Illinois Wine Trail. Being a mead producer, Wild Blossom Meadery & Winery raises their our own bees and collects their own honey. The group will take a guided meadery tour and participate in a class.
End the night with Handcrafted Wine and Modern Casual Dining at Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurant in Orland Park. The concept is unique - a signature menu with a selection of dishes designed to pair perfectly with Cooper’s Hawk's wines, made in their private winery. The Cooper’s Hawk concept includes four distinct components: an upscale casual dining restaurant, full-service bar, private barrel-aging room, and Napa-style tasting room and retail gift store…all under one roof. Each Cooper’s Hawk location is distinctive in layout and décor, but carries the same warmth and elegance that guests have come to expect.
Day 2
