The Old Fashioned
With history dating back to the 1800s, it’s no surprise that one of Thornton Distilling Co.’s signature drinks is the Old Fashioned, their spin on a classic cocktail with its own 1800’s origins.
Because of its long and colorful history, it’s hard to pinpoint exactly where the drink originated. The Old Fashioned originally was made up of a sugar cube, ice cubes and bitters, warmed up by whiskey. After Prohibition ended, bartenders across the country began altering the recipe by adding powdered sugar, soda water, oranges, cherries, pineapples and more. These modified drink-making methods made the Old Fashioned infamous and continued to gain popularity through the decades. Now, the drink is the most ordered cocktail in the United States.
Made with their distinctive Dead Drop Pecan Whiskey and house-made bitters, Thornton Distilling Co.’s Old Fashioned is embellished with burnt orange peel, completing the drink. Available year-round, this classic beverage is sure to quench your thirst.
