Out and About with the Brewmaster's Wife: Race on Over to Accelerate for Family Fun

If you haven’t made it to Accelerate Indoor Speedway & Events yet, grab your friends and head over! You can experience European-style indoor kart racing right in Mokena. Trust me, this is not your average go-kart facility - come prepared for high speed fun that gets your heart a-pumping!

Accelerate opened in December, 2017, and offers much more than just indoor kart racing. The 78,000 square foot facility not only has race tracks, but also features a large arcade area, The Victory Lap Bar & Grill, a gaming area and a conference room. It’s a great place to host your next event, whether it’s a birthday party for 8 or a full facility rental for your corporate team building day.

Racing is (of course) the main event at Accelerate. There are two tracks to choose from: Monaco, the drivers course that has lots of twists and turns to test your driving prowess, and LeMans, which is a bit more open so that you can feed your need for speed. If you’re a little nervous about racing at speeds up to 50 mph, there are clinics available to help you master indoor karting.

It’s so easy to have a fun adventure at Accelerate with their “Arrive and Drive” racing. You can come in anytime that they are not closed for a private event or the holidays, sign up at the iPad bar, get safety and operating instructions from their trained staff, and be off and running in no time! You can even keep track of your scores and rankings so you can compete with your friends!

Several different racing leagues are offered at Accelerate. New this summer is a junior racing league, which is being added to the league lineup of varsity, adult and enduro leagues. Private leagues are also offered. You can get more information and sign up online at acceleratespeed.com.

Accelerate Indoor Speedway & Events is the only one of its kind in the Midwest. There are 11 other facilities on the East Coast. All 12 of the speedways are participating in an incredible racing event this summer - the AEKC (American Electric Kart Championship). The finals will be held at Accelerate in Mokena on August 10 & 11 and will be co-sponsored by Monster Energy with a purse of $10,000! Riders will come from each of the 12 locations to compete in this exciting race.

In addition to racing, Accelerate has a great game area that will keep you busy for hours. There is a huge prize room with some really amazing prizes just waiting to be won! On the 10,000-square-foot mezzanine is a full-service restaurant and bar so you can watch the racing action while you’re enjoying a cold drink and some delicious food. The Victory Lap has daily specials during the week, including “Hipster Tuesdays” featuring $2 tacos and select beers, and “Thirsty Thursdays” featuring $4 premium wines and local crafts. Tasty sandwiches, tacos and fish & chips are available to tempt your tastebuds.

Accelerate is also a great place to host your next company outing or team building event. With a conference room that seats 100, it’s a unique venue to inspire your team. Whether you have 20 employees or 200, Accelerate can accommodate your company. Full facility rental is also available.
