Chicago Southland Hosts the 2017 United States Log Rolling Open

Sanctioned through the United States Log Rolling Association, the Chicago Southland hosted the 2nd annual United States Log Rolling Open by KRICK, LLC. in 2017. The Chicago Southland area was the first stop on the professional log rolling circuit.

With 21 competitors from across the United States, this event doubled in size in its second year. The farthest competitors arrived to the area from California and Florida. Near or far, all participants were ready to compete. Competitors were able to enjoy local restaurants, shopping and attractions during their downtime of competition.

During the tournament, the Chicago Southland was able to help bring a niche sport to a larger platform within the Chicago market. With 800 spectators taking part in the event, KRICK, LLC. brought in hotel rooms to the area. However, the overall impact to the region was much greater than the number of hotel guests. Chicago Southland was able to share KRICK’s unique event within the local market too.

In conjunction with the multiple media days, on-air media coverage included Fox News Chicago, WGN, WCIU and radio stations. The event was broadcasted four times throughout the week on Comcast SportsNet Chicago garnering 145,000 viewers. Combined with the television, newspaper and radio coverage, this event produced more than 12,482,618 earned media impressions for KRICK .

The Chicago Southland assisted the KRICK in garnering media coverage for its event and created significant awareness for the sport. Easily accessible throughout the Midwest area and regional airports, the Chicago Southland area is also central with its location in relation to the city of Chicago.
