Crusader Classic Bowling Tournament Was a Success in Chicago Southland

Here’s a look at a recent sporting event held in Chicago Southland:

This past February, the 8th annual Crusader Classic Bowling Tournament made its first visit to Chicago Southland. This NCAA sanctioned women’s bowling tournament, hosted by Valparaiso University, brought 11 teams to compete at Lakewood Bowl and Grill in Richton Park.

Along with bringing 66 hotel room nights to our area, the tournament welcomed collegiate athletes from across the region, providing an economic driver for Chicago Southland. Visitors explored the region checking out the numerous restaurants and attractions throughout the area.

When talking about the partnership in Chicago Southland, Stephen Anthony, senior associate athletic director at Valparaiso University, said, “The opportunity to host the top teams in the nation at a tremendous facility in Chicago Southland will provide terrific exposure for our bowling program while providing a wonderful opportunity for student-athletes from across the country to compete at a high level.”

This event was such a success; the tournament has already confirmed to return to the area, Feb.16-18, 2018 and also in 2019 and 2020. The Chicago Southland Sales and Services team will assist them for future events by coordinating welcome bags, official greetings, site inspections and more.

The Visit Chicago Southland team also assisted the Crusader Classic Bowling Tournament in securing room nights for the tournament and creating great awareness for the sport. Easily accessible throughout the Midwest area and regional airports, the Chicago Southland region is also central with its location in relation to the city of Chicago.
