The Oak Lawn Arts Commission would like to invite you to the Village Green to view the first public art project called “Acorns on Parade”, which began July 5th. The giant painted acorns will be displayed together for two weeks and then will be installed around Oak Lawn in accordance to the wishes of the sponsors who purchased them. These iconic acorns are intended to “sow the seeds of the arts in Oak Lawn,” and will be iconic symbols of Oak Lawn for years to come.

Steger Days of Music is a three-day family-friendly music festival located in Steger, Illinois. The event will feature craft and merchandise vendors, as well as a variety of food trucks and booths. Start indoors to briefly learn what seasonal changes and other nature notes are happening in Goodenow Grove Nature Preserve. Hike with a naturalist and take photos along the way. (Any camera smart phone through digital SLRs are allowed.) Please dress for the weather. Indoor facilities are accessible. Outdoor activities may take place on natural surfaces across uneven terrain. Be prepared to hike at least 1 mile. Registration is required. Ages 16 or older. Free

Last year the exhibit,"Abraham Lincoln: Self Made in America" came to the Chicago Southland Lincoln Oasis. The traveling exhibit was created by the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library & Museum to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Lincoln's birth. The exhibit features eight kiosks and covers Lincoln's childhood, the Lincoln-Douglas debates, the 1860 Presidential election, the Civil War, the 13th Amendment and Emancipation Proclamation, his assassination and other important periods and events in his life. This is a temporary exhibit, so don't miss the opportunity to learn about a famous part of America's history!

Friday night is Country Music Night with US 99.5 broadcasting their afternoon show live with host, Mike Kasper and Back Country Road will be performing before the game at Gate 4. New Country hit-maker Chase Bryant will take the field just before the game for an Opry Circle Throwdown. Stop by the Country Music Night Party Shop in Section 159 when the gates open to the middle of the third inning to purchase your exclusive cowboy hats and other party wear. There will be fireworks after Friday's game. The first 20,000 fans on Saturday will receive a White Sox Cap, presented by The PrivateBank. Sunday is Family Day with balloonist, caricature artists, face painting and more.
