Where We Remember Those Who Went Before Us

Our Museum

COMING SOON – The NEW Crete Historical Museum is located at 550 W. Exchange in Crete, Illinois and is full of wonderful information about the area’s rich history.

This is where we share the stories behind Crete’s heritage through exhibits featuring local businesses, the farming experience, railroads, schools, churches, people, and much, much more.

Our Mission

The Crete Area Historical Society is here to preserve, display and communicate the history of Crete and this area. We will endeavor to save and share historic items, pictures and documents that will enable residents, teachers and visitors to learn about the people who have come before us in building this community.

Adopted on January 20, 2022 at the meeting of the Historical Society in the Crete Town Hall.
