Travel Inspiration
Nothing screams walking on sunshine in the summertime like an outdoor concert at your favorite local venue, and the Chicago Southland has plenty from which to choose.
The new Centennial Park West in Orland Park (OrlandPark.org) not only hosts concerts, but outdoor movies and markets as well. Their most popular event, The Taste of Orland Park, offers some of the best food around the area while jamming to some fantastic musicians.
Every Thursday night, May-September, CD&ME in Frankfort (CDandME.co) offers fantastic cover and tribute bands, as well as artists like Sara Evans, Brett Michaels and KC & The Sunshine Band. Rain or shine, the concert will go on because they’ll simply move it indoors.
The Country Club Hills Amphitheater in Country Club Hills (CCHTheater.com) hosts its annual Rockin’ Summer Concert Series featuring popular jazz, rhythm and blues, soul and funk acts from June to September.
Cross Pointe Park in Hazel Crest (CrossPointePark.com) opened its doors in 2020 and quickly became known for its great atmosphere and incredible music experience.
More than just a music venue, Fox Pointe in Lansing (FoxPointe.org) opened its downtown multi-million-dollar entertainment center in 2018 to not only entertain guests but build a sense of community through its events. Offering one of the most active event calendars in the Chicago Southland, don’t forget to check the summer schedule of performances.
Finally, there’s plenty more to SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview (SeatGeekStadium.com) than just professional soccer. With a capacity of 28,000, concert promoters and fans alike love the venue. While festivals regularly book the venue, other acts that have jammed here include the Dave Matthews Band, Jimmy Buffett, Kelly Clarkson and Kenny Chesney.
Don’t forget to tune into one of the many concert series hosted by Chicago Southland municipalities, including Alsip (AlsipParks.org), Homewood (HFParks.com), Palos Park (PalosPark.org) and Park Forest (VillageofParkForest.com). Talking to the Moon while Leaving Your Hat On at a summer concert venue in the Chicago Southland is always a lot of fun, until it’s Closing Time.
