The Illinois Lincoln Highway, America's First Coast-to-Coast Road, was dedicated in 1913 and runs about 25 miles through the Chicago Southland from Lynwood in the east to Frankfort in the west. Throughout this section of the Lincoln Highway, a series of eight murals was completed in 2012 featuring local and national Lincoln Highway history. Three interpretive gazebos are also found on the Lincoln Highway in the Chicago Southland.
