Broadway & Vine Streets | Blue Island, IL 60406 | (708) 597-8603 | (708) 597-1221 fax
With a double diamond interchange and eight tracks crossing Broadway Street, the Blue Island interchange is described as one of the most fascinating rail watching hotspots in the Midwest. Just south of five steel bridges that cross the Cal-Sag Channel, about 90 trains roll through this interchange daily. BNSF is occasionally seen on the joint lines as well, and about 250 yards due south from Broadway is an overhead crossing of the Rock Island commuter line.
The double diamond with the steel bridges in the background create a picturesque location, but please stay on the sidewalks since they are public property and provide a great view of the interchange. The Blue Island and Dolton interchanges are a matched pair and only five miles apart.
